Trucks and cars make up a large portion of vehicles on the road today. While they are similar in the sense that both are 4-wheel vehicles, they do have some fundamental differences. Apart from the apparent difference in their overall size and power, batteries are another key area of difference. Since the automotive battery used in both trucks and cars serve as starter batteries, their job is to essentially provide the initial burst of current needed to start the vehicle. Focusing on trucks, the batteries used in them have a 24V rating. Some new truck drivers may have the question that whether 24 volts enough to start a truck or not. The short answer to this question is yes. A 24-volt battery is enough to start a truck as it can meet the current requirements needed for the initial ignition. Similar to the original concern, some may wonder if 2 car batteries of 12V each can start a truck or not. The answer to this question is yes as well but it is not the optimal solution. It is possible to connect the 2 car batteries in series and then place them in the truck’s battery slot. It can lead to consistency issues in terms of performance as these batteries are designed for use in cars instead of trucks. Generally, they also lack the strength and ruggedness needed to withstand the greater vibrations caused by the more powerful truck engine.
